Change in the sked of Buglas Fest
I have posted in this blog last September 8 the details on the postponement of the Buglasan Festival of Festivals from October to December starting this year.
Myla Mae Bromo-Abellana, senior tourism operations officer of Negros Oriental Provincial Tourism Office, has confirmed on that post that the festival will now be called Buglas Festival and held on December 21, 2007 to January 1, 2008. (See post here)
However, Abellana just e-mailed me yesterday of the change in the schedule of the Buglas Festival. The new schedule of the Buglas Festival is slated on December 21 to 31, 2007.
Here is the calendar of activities prepared by the Negros Oriental Provincial Tourism Office for the Buglas Festival 2007.

no more fireworks competition? this governor ….he changed everything from the name to the activities…for what? legacy or politics….this is why us Filipinos don’t grow…we are very selfish all we think is popularity…why not name it macias festival then?
[...] I don’t know what the protocol here is concerning answering your own question or cross referring to another forum. I did find this and I’m happy to provide the link here: Dumaguete Life ? Change in the sked of Buglas Fest It is a revised schedule to what is now to be called the Buglas Festival. The good news is that I’ve now been persuaded to extend my stay to be able to attend these events. I hope to see many of you there. __________________ T’was Grace that brought us safe thus far… ’tis Grace will lead us home [...]
wise din kayo ano..yung nasa likod nito festival tinanggal nyo ang fireworks competition ,,,,wala na ba budget,,,hapi new yer nalang sa inyo nasa likod ng festival na2,,,binago nyo pa ang pangalan buglasan ,,,gawin nyo nalang MACIAS AND COMPANY FESTIVAL,,,
it is unfortunate that there is no fireworks competition this year but only the fireworks display on Dec. 31
asa naman ang parking lots sa mga sakyanan dont tell me mag huot na jud ni.. hisusko wala jud ninyo huna hunaa noh?
One thing, it can bring disturbance to the provincial hospital which is just located at the back of the new venue.
This change of Buglasan schedule is disgusting. People are already used to Buglasan being held every October.. why do (Macias administration) have to change it? Also, it was more comfortable holding the Buglasan at the capitol. Would you imagine Macias will have a fireworks display on Dec. 31 midnight? When the people should instead celebrate Dec. 31 (New Year’s Eve) with their family, just because of Macias’s fireworks display..then that would mean people celebrating the New Year’s Eve on the streets. You guys are right.. The festival should have been called Macias Buglas..
i dont really see anything wrong with the buglasan for the past years…the changes only made the people confused…
Sakto ragud ang Name (the Macias Bugbuglas fest)
Actually hindi lang ang Oriental Negros ang may ari sa Buglas na yan..just look for history about Bacolod City concerning Buglas. Just type Buglas history in Bacolod City..Mahiya naman kayo.. Buglas is not just for Oriental only but whole continent of Negros.. in short di tayo pwede gumamit sa term na buglas..just Buglasan much better.. K
helloo po… please help me understand this… i am to make a poster…. sustaining negros oriental multi sectoral agri-tourism initiatives. thank you..
To Loha.. nice of you to research about the history of Buglas. The government should know this .. but on my opinion, it is okay for both Negros Occidental and Negros Oriental to use Buglas since the Negros island when discovered was named Buglas. The island was separated in two — Negros Occidental and Negros Oriental — only after it was discovered. In my understanding, Buglas is both Negros Occidental and Negros Oriental.
To emmanuel alit.. gud day to you.. what is it that you want to know.. or what kind of help do you need?
If Macias has done changes to the festival then he might as well do likewise in the Sandurot Festival. The worst thing that could happen is the renaming of this province from Negros Oriental to MACIAS Oriental… Pretty impractical move right there governor. People are disappointed. Haven’t heard of a single person being so appreciative of what Buglasan has become (though am still waiting - ’till forever if it takes that long) Ugghhh. If Buglasan would continue to be this lame then we might lose TOURISTS!!! Wake up Politicians!
