| Jessica Layuman, secretariat of the Kabulakan Festival, said the concept of the festival is to pay tribute to the month of May. “Flowers is the concept here. This took the place of Santacruzan,” she said.
Santacruzan, she added, is being handled by the church and that the Kabulakan Festival is the city’s version of it. The activities of the Kabulakan Festival kicked off last May 16 and will end on May 25. Saturday’s event is the highlight of the festivity where there will be a parade of stars around 3 p.m. before the street dancing competition. According to Layuman, the participants of the street dancing contest will come from the different barangays of Dumaguete City. She added that a grand fireworks display will culminate the Kabulakan Festival activities on May 25. |
