The clamor of Dumaguetenos was heard as the celebration of the Buglasan Festival of Festivals this year is slated October 16 to 26.
To recall, the City Government last year under the administration of Governor Emilio Macias II moved the Buglasan activities to December. The governor saw the significance of holding the event in the said month. (See related post)

The city of Dumaguete will showcase a street dancing competition this Saturday, May 24, as highlight of their 2nd Kabulakan Festival.
Residents and tourists will enjoy watching the street dancing to be held at the city’s major thoroughfares at around 4 p.m.
Jessica Layuman, secretariat of the Kabulakan Festival, said the concept of the festival is to pay tribute to the month of May. “Flowers is the concept here. This took the place of Santacruzan,” she said.

Dumagueteños will now get the chance to view live the much-awaited rematch between Philippine boxing champ Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao and Mexico’s Juan Manuel “Dinamita” Marquez this Sunday at the Lamberto Macias Sports Complex, Capitol area.
With a minimal entrance fee — only P50 — city residents will see in a giant screen the live telecast of the Pacquiao-Marquez II bout, which starts at 8 a.m.

The number of tourists visiting Negros Oriental increased by 23.69 percent in 2007 compared to the previous year, records of the Department of Tourism (DOT)-Central Visayas showed.
According to the same report, only 155,323 tourists visited Negros Oriental in 2006 while there were 192,125 visits tallied in 2007, thus an increase of 23.69 percent.
Also, it was noted that the bulk of the visitor arrivals in this province comes from domestic travelers rather than foreign tourists.
